INFO MEETING DC

INFORMATION MEETING

Birth of a Modern Nation

Washington DC and around

April 12-19, 2025

American history springs to life on a trip to the east coast!  Our learning journeys complement the curriculum of San Luis Obispo Classical Academy, taking students and families to see first-hand the places they have studied.  Whether through hands-on immersive experiences in Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg, an inspirational walk through the monuments on the mall, illuminated against the backdrop of our nation’s capital, or marching and then charging in the footsteps of the soldiers at Picket’s Charge in Gettysburg, learning comes to life and becomes deeply rooted in the minds and hearts of those who experience the journey. New friendships are forged, both for students and their parents, as we discover and learn together on Birth of A Nation, a learning journey by BlueStoneBlueOcean.

'INTRODUCTION TO' SESSIONS

French Art de Vivre

How to sit? How do you really say oui? Shoud I accept an invitation for un apéritif? Ne me quitte pas or La vie en rose? What is Brouilly? How to enjoy endive with blue cheese? Or kir royal? How old is an old church? Why Thierry is not smiling to me? Champs Elysées or Canal Saint-Martin? What do they mean by Art de Vivre?... These are just a few of the issues we might address during this fun and educational session!

Cédric Jacquemont is our token Frenchman here to act as host and translator of his home culture.  Throughout the session, he shares his experiences and knowledge about all things French, including his unique perspective as a corporate executive turned artist who has travelled or lived on four continents.

Revisiting worn-out clichés as well as personal stories, navigating from history to geography, from food and wine to arts, Cédric takes us on a true journey to France and its amazingly rich and complex culture!

Tools: interactive discussions, tastings, games, artistic disciplines.

Duration: 2 to 3 hours.

Group size: 6 to 12 participants.

Cost: FREE!
